Your Words

Your Words
©annalee

If I could understand you
pick apart your brain
piece by piece like a surgeon
examine each part with
morbid curiosity

Wish I could see beyond
the words to uncover
any substance
Is this just a facade
of plaster and chipping paint?

I see your mouth moving (yeah)
your lips elastic (yeah)
bending and squeezing
and the words
are making me feel
Insecure. (insecure)
Confused. (confused)
Oh-oh, Oh-oh

Each of your words feel like
an empty promise
nothing that I can hold on to
Nothing that feels real
and all that I can't know

If I could understand you
pick apart your brain
piece by piece like a surgeon
examine each part with
morbid curiosity

I see your mouth moving (yeah)
your lips elastic (yeah)
bending and squeezing
and the words you are saying
are just making me feel
confused. (confused)
insecure. (insecure)
Oh-oh, Oh-oh

I see your mouth moving (yeah)
your lips elastic (yeah)
bending and squeezing
and the words you are saying
are just making me feel
confused. (confused)
insecure. (insecure)
Oh-oh, Oh-oh
