Stuck on Pause

Posted on December 19, 2024December 19, 2024

It’s better if I don’t look back
At all the memories we had
You with your cowboy smile
You heart locked up ironclad
Took me forever to pick apart
The tangle of lies we sold
To release myself from my part
Till there was nothing left

In this space you used to be
I’m hurting inside this ache
You’ve been long gone
And I’m left to wake
I know you’re with her
She’s taken my place
Those words you said to me
Has become white space

And now you’re gone
I’m lost in this place
I Need to move on
but still wanting to stay

I’m losing my mind
I’m stuck on pause
Unable to move away from you
Unable to stay (don’t stay)
Unable to go (to go)
Why do I still love you?
Tell me why I still want you?
I still want you (still want you)

I tried give you all I had
Never got anything back
You didn’t want to love me better
didn’t want to make up for the lack
If I had known I’d lost your heart
to that girl you said you knew
Didn’t know I was there to distract
Till your passion grew cold

I know I shouldn’t look back
I should close this swinging door
Let my heart heal
Get me back on track
Driving in my car
I pass by your place
All those moments with you
I need to erase

Time to face the facts
You’re a dead end track
No more dreaming
Or turning back
Time to break free
I’m leaving the past
Closing that door
Break free at last.

And now you’re gone
I’m lost in this place
I Need to move on
but still wanting to stay

I’m losing my mind
I’m stuck on pause
Unable to move away from you
Unable to stay (don’t stay)
Unable to go (to go)
Why do I still love you?
Tell me why I still want you?
I still want you (still want you)
